3. Thinking It Through
research, publication, BFA degree project
Thinking It Through is a meticulous collection of prompts, questions and printed matter designed to elevate one’s design process by encouraging critical thinking towards their craft and questioning existing conventions. With thought-provoking prompts and insightful questions, this curation aims to spark innovative ideas and conversations and inspire reimagination of and in one’s creative practice.
Designers are often seeking autonomy in their work, with the desire to have more control over the creative process and to express their individuality and personal narratives. However, this desire for autonomy can be constrained by the commercial realities of the industry, which can limit the scope of one’s creative potential and opportunities.
To address this challenge, one approach could be to shift our perspective towards developing creative thinking that prioritizes personal narratives and autonomy in one’s design practice. This could mean putting the individual voice and perspective of the designer at the forefront of the creative process. By valuing personal narratives and creative autonomy, designers can unlock new possibilities for innovation and expression, and create work that truly resonates and reflects one’s unique vision and values.
